They can't take care of themselves the way cats can. They need a certain level of attention, long walks, and gnaw on the floor tiles or your favorite shoes when bored or lonely. He was very affectionate. One day six years later someone didn't close a door properly-- he just walked out the door and vanished. We searched for him for a long time.
