Mozzarella

I'm very excited: I've been reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver, only to discover she has many similar notions about eating/cooking/family/food chain as I do. AND they make their own mozzarella around there, so I just sent for a kit (of all things) to make my own, from the New England Cheesemaking Company, in Ashfield right up the road from where I used to live.

  2. That's an interesting idea, making your own cheese. My late husband's family had a family friend in Uk who did that.... her kitchen was full of little bags containing maturing homemade cheese, I never got to taste any of it though.

Home made cheese is an excellent idea. My mother-in-law makes her own goats cheese and it is much better than anything you can buy.

Hence, Mozzeralla does not hapen around here... though tomatoes, basil and garlic grow in my area, and it doesn't taste the same with goat cheese.

  5. Is that book nonfiction? I haven't heard of it. I am ready Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Nothing about making your own cheese but a great section on Italy.

I love, love Barbara Kingsolver...I had no idea she had another book! Yea!!!!!
Since I have found out about my Celiac...I have become much more interested in food production, ect. I am probably going overboard right now, but I suppose you have to swing hard before you get to a happy medium. I had forgotten that she is a foodie freak too. Thanks!!

Same as Stacie, I, too, love Barbara Kingsolver and had no idea she had a new book.
