I can never seem to unpack the day I get back from any trip—or even the following few days. The reentry is somewhat circumspect, especially when I discover the vine I've been training has been painstakingly removed by D, in an effort to be helpful in my absence.
All my photo things are still jumbled in their bag; the mending of Pippo is still undone. I have one more chapter to finish before I can send out the invoice. Summer stasis.

I have that same unpacking lag. I can pack for a trip in 10 minutes flat if necessary, but the unpacking? Not so much.

It's a scarecrow in the making. She needs straw stuffing on her arm framing her head and her left leg needs extending!

My husband does the same "helpful" things. Makes me wonder how much attention he pays to things. Oh well.

ReplyDeletethis is the garden at the school we attended last week; they had enough stuff in there to supply the dining room with all the vegetables (except corn, which oddly was on the menu one day.

I know what you mean about unpacking. The reality that I'm back always seems to hit me at that moment, so it's something I put off too.
ReplyDeleteUnpacking is all part of the aftermath of time away from home. The slower you unpack.... the longer the memory lasts of the great time you had.

Unpack and get it over with. We do it this way and it has worked for over fifty years. Course, we don't go away often.

ReplyDeleteI take weeks to unpack...sometimes, I haven't even finished unpacking before I have to start packing again...and that's not because I go away a lot.
