shop news: Had first big blowup at shop meeting! I even pounded my hand on the table!!! And it was about e-mails/finances/is the person in charge capable!!! Plus the TV issue came up, and C shouted the following at me and A: "TVs are EVERYWHERE! You're stupid NOT to want one here!!"
And it's not resolved, because right after my hand pounding, a potential teacher arrived, so we all had to reassemble into reasonable adults. YIKES! stay tuned . . .
(though in retrospect, I'll be the bigger person and admit there were some points well taken . . .)

Yeah, but hold firm on the TV.
[Jaws movie music]
We're laying for C, no question.
ewww pounding fist on the table... you really mean business. Why do they want a TV in the shop? There's absolultely nothing worth while watching, even if you get 300 different channels.
Ugh...TV in the shop?
I am with you...this makes it seem like a cheap hair salon or nail place. Knitting and soap opera's?
I don't get what kind of atmosphere is wanted...hold firm...you are so in the right on this one. I would have gone berserko...
Hello again :)
And it`s raining !!! and we are reading,I started Umberto Eco`s book "La Misteriosa Fiamma Della Regina Loana" - in Finnish. It seems to be interesting.
If you have an extra time, I will publish also during this summer in my "free" blog mostly in rainy days.

Have a nice weekend!
I don't like tvs everywhere. It is annoying.
There must be a place for issues to come out. Remember 1/3 will be content and on board, 1/3 will sit on the fence and 1/3 are gripers and critics.
The key is to influence and work with the first group so the second group is inspired and motivated to follow them and then the third group is not allowed to have more influence.
Easy to say. The words, "I hear you" are not the same as, "I'll do what you are saying or I'll act upon your ideas."
"Hmmmmm" can go a long way. Sometimes you get more input.
I don't know anything about knitting but I do know there is no WAY a televsion should be in a yarn store.
It will be on all day and disrupt the peace of the space.
ACK.
knit one~

Hold on to NO TV in the shop!
Good for you for standing up for your rights! Don't worry though, I imagine that all new businesses go through teething troubles - just be firm about that telly!
oooh you sound very assertive, good for you! i can be quite stroppy in meetings - but have never fist-pounded. impressive.
how about music in the shop? could be quite nice - a possible compromise?
Pounding fist on table!
That is driving the point!
No TV
Sounds normal
Why would anyone want a TV in their shop?
I don't understand wanting a TV either in a shop. It doesn't seem very customer friendly.
I'm not a big tv fan anyway and don't see why it should have a place in the shop and perhaps because they're everywhere is a good reason NOT to have one...
Good luck with working through the issues.
Angela
i'm with angela... the very reason not to have one is because they are everywhere.... don't get me wrong, i love my tv watching, but not in a shop - if it is one it will be an awful noise, and it will never have a program on that everyone will want to watch, never. ummm, good luck on this one....
