Apple Pecan cake

Quite tasty, too.

I'm off to wind a warp, then later take L to her cello lesson.

Tomorrow, with an accompanist, she plays before a judge. I'm not allowed in, so I'll be skulking around outside the door. If she scores a 1 or a 2, she apparently receives a medal. But she'll receive detailed notes about her playing from the judge, which is the most important aspect of the proceedings.

I'm getting the urge to travel, but alas . . . it won't happen this year.

My boys play for the judge next weekend. I'm nervous already.

That cake does look good - bring some by, okay?

I'm wanting to travel to, but we're in the middle of the college application process and may never travel again.

Time will come, when you can travel,
children move out sooner than you can imagine, then you have empty house and plenty of time, hopefully also plenty of energy and health as well :)
We are now in this situation and we are going to cruise on the Black Sea
after three weeks.Istanbul feels almost too exiting place to think, we will see, how we will manage there.

Plenty of luck to L!
Have a good weekend you, Beth and family!

Yum to the cake. I am working my way through a genius book called 'Delia's How to Cheat at Cooking' which lets you use your freezer as a store cupboard and rustle up quick assemblages of nice food. I haven't done cakes or pies or puddings yet but look forward.

Good luck to L. If she thinks about nothing else than the music she should be more than OK.

I can remember the examiners having to wait until I 'came round' after I finished playing. :>

I love apples and pecans, so i would probably love this cake.

I also love cello music. I have seen the film Hilary and Jackie many times. and I love "Le Cygne" played on cello. it makes me melancholy.

I hope the judge is content with L.'s cello play!
Apple pecan cake! Evokes Proustian memories! I have an old Washington Post recipe for Apple Ozark Cake, very simple. I used to make it with pecans but they are hard to get and expensive like truffles here. ;-)

hey! best dessert i ever remember was an apple strudel type thing

someone had put an apple through an ultra bourgeois apple slicing machine that sliced an apple paper thin

so atop this apple desert with ice cream came a mickey mouse ears shaped cross section of apple... it was ever so gorgeous

(wish I'd kept it for posteriority and not eaten it hahar!!)
