Oh how cool!! I LOVE this muscial, but had never seen this clip. Was that a little cameo of Tiny Tim??!
When I heard there was a revival in Central Park I got very excited and started to sing this song to my kids. They just stared at me silently with their mouths open. But I can tell they are intrigued (or just totally mortified). I don't think it's so easy to get tickets though.
I heard the director and original Broadway stars discussing it on Sirius radio the other day - I believe it's the 40th anniversay - and they talked about how it's evolved and the different choices made in later productions.
We saw a local production of Hair last year, first time I'd seen it. Amazing, we loved it. I'll bet the Central Park revival is great. I think we'll be seeing more of this production in coming months, a reflection of the times.
I've never seen a production of Hair but I have the original cast recording on vinly... but unfortunately no record player to play it on.... but I love the somgs! I enjoyed that video!
Hair is probably my favorite music ever. My mother played the record all the time when I was a kid so I had the lyrics memorized by age 7. My parents went to see the musical several times in the 60's (which makes them much cooler than I ever gave them credit for). We also wore our way through a copy or two of the 8 track and I have the CD but have worn that out and need another. So thanks! I never thought to look for Hair music vids on YouTube.
