arrived in e-mail, but I have to "audition" for it, and it is both developmental and copy editing, so D and I will work on it together, if we get it. Good to open up the pipeline to another employer, but once again, asking for more bang for less buck. Oh well.

Toots are you a freelance editor? Can't quite get what you do? Hey extra bucks are good, bang or not!
What exactly is developmental editing? I'd be interested to know...have turned on the follow-up comment function for this!
Blog on! We're almost finished!
Baino: yes, I am a freelance copy editor, working mostly on college texts, which nowadays means allied health and nursing, though it used to mean lots more.
Betty C.: Developmental editing as a profession is going away, though this is (was?) my husband's job in the sciences. You work with authors to develop a strong competitive edge in, say, an introductory biology text, tightening writing style, working up features, giving sales people a reason to sell the book (now, sadly, known as "product") to professors who in charge of adopting texts. He's worked on most of the major texts, actually.
why can't it be more buck and less bang!!
So sorry Remus decided to snack on your wires...puppies are a lot of work...
I hope the new editing opportunities work out...
