Theme Thursday: Pink

thank you, wikipedia, for the image

The thing that leapt to mind was pinking shears and cutting felt to make pin cushions. The satisfying pull of the fabric through the teeth, and the perfectly little notches. A friend made these little pins at Valentine's Day for sales, and it brought back all the concentration of childhood for me. They are just as lovely as the photo.

thank you, purl bee, for the image.

I suppose I'm primed to return to sewing. I'm returning all my stuff—sewing machine, loom, wheel—this summer, back to the spare room, which will be more cosy, and of course end my list of excuses for not getting down to the studio and working. The studio will be here!

The idea of pinking shears totally skipped my mind! Good choice.

I did a lot of crazy things with my mom's shears. Including cutting my hair! Oh, she was NOT happy with me!

Sorry I haven't chimed in on comments -- it's been enough to keep up with the daily blogging. Perhaps I'll have to try Theme Thursday for inspiration; it sounds kind of fun and I have always liked your posts on it.

I had pinking shears . . dunno where they are now but they were the lazy sewing alternative to finishing seams. I used to sew quite a lot but don't even have a sewing machine these days although with the price of shoddy clothes, I'm tempted. Nice take on pink. It's not my favourite colour but I have an affection for zig zag! Hehe! avagoodweekend Toots. Oh and Skype if the mood takes you. Email and I'll give you my tag.

We had to use the pinking shears when cutting out the patterns for my mom to sew. It is a lot harder then with the regular sissors. We also tried it on our hair and my mom just laughed and said we were stuck with it. We never did it again. But it was kinda cool being as it was during the "Hippy Era" and that meant anything goes.

I wish I could sew but alas my straight line looks like a snake went through and sewed it. I can cut out the patterns but sewing sucks. I really do wish I could sew and why I have two sewing machines is beyond comprehension. I need to give one away. When my neice moves out I will give her one because she can sew.

Happy TT.

God bless.

Pinking shears - I have to admit that never entered my mind when I saw the TT theme this week. Otherwise, I might have written about what I did to my aunt's favorite tablecloth one Thanksgiving. (Hey, it added a note of festivity...)

My post for Pink, close to my heart, is up here.
