What a great photo, I don't know exactly why, but I have rather fallen in love with it, I think it is the comfy, solid back of the cat, which satisfies my inner graphic artist.
Wouldn't it be nice to be like our pets and have an hour or so to spend gazing out the window? I'm amazed at how long just looking through glass at the front yard will entertain my poodle.
We could indeed learn from cats - they are so 'in the moment': look at those ears.
PS: I can usually only get this level of concentration when I'm taking a photograph. must be why taking photographs is so satisfying (the FOCUS, folks) - plus you get to just focus on what's outside your window if you like until it's time to go back to work.
I love how cats perch themselves in seemingly the strangest places....which reminds me of a photo I snapped the other day of gwen ... I think in homage to your bird watching kitty (is that bear?) I'll post that pic of gwen....
I can tell from the responses you received that there are a lot of cat lovers here. ("And was he/she making the "cat chirp" while watching?" and "Was the tail lashing at all?")
The photo really conveys the cat's intense focus.
If only some of my students would have the same ability! LOL
No, I've not read any of M. L'Engle's earlier works. I read a memoir published shortly before her death. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. I always enjoy hearing about books, and will make every effort to find them.

Heh, heh! And was he/she making the "cat chirp" while watching?

How cute is that? But it wouldn't be so cute if the cat could get outside to the bird.
That's high praise, indeed, coming from you, PG!
Roy, just anxious tensing . . . there is another one who is the chirper.
What a beautiful shot. You can see that every arrow of the kitty's attention is directed UP and OUT the window. Watch out, birds, watch out!!
Cute kitchen, too.
Great shot, he's in his very own world right there.

My cat always does the chattering thing when he is watching the birds. Very entertaining for both of us :-)

Have a lovely weekend, tut-tut.
And to all you cat lovers!
Hi Tut-Tut,
Regarding the question you left on my Blog...
No, I've not read any of M. L'Engle's earlier works. I read a memoir published shortly before her death. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. I always enjoy hearing about books, and will make every effort to find them.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Waiting...watching...patient...the chirping...birdies...darn! I can't open the window with my paws!! Sobbing...cool shot, tut-tut.
this is the best photo--I've fallen way behind visiting blogs, just coming back from the flu just putting up posts was an effort.
