By the way

over the years I've been following various blogs, I've been bookmarking them via RSS and then they appear on my browser's sidebar. Slowly, that sidebar has gotten built up and messy, with some blogs disappearing into the mire, everything confused and rumpled, looking not unlike a certain teenager's room . . . but now blogger has this Follower capability. I simply pasted all "my" blogs into that feature, and there they are, in alpha order, telling me when someone has put up a new post. It's so orderly and calm in there! Very beige and neutral. That's what I feel, anyway.

I chose originally to be anonymous (I wonder why . . .) but you can let someone know you are following them. I think I'll go in and do so.

Thank you to Gumbo Writer for introducing me to this.

You're ever so welcome, Tut-tut. It is handy to see all the blogs ya stalk (I mean, read...)all lined up nicely and updating themselves. Saves a lot of trolling to see if a new post is up too. As usual, I just sorta blundered or fell into it. ;) Happy Sunday and week ahead.

I'm old fashioned in that I like to type each person's URL into the address bar by hand each time I visit their blog.

Wonderful idea, thanks for that! I tried to read the blogs I follow most days, but sometimes life gets a little too busy (ha ha.)
I will get that little widget thing today.

I've spent so much time subscribing on bloglines that I wondered if it was worth it to bother with a new reader, but you make it sound so easy!

That is so neat. I actually saw that I had "4 Followers" when I logged on today and had no idea what that meant. Then I wondered if it labeled them "Followers" because the name of my blog is "Follow your Bliss" and someone else's with a different name would have a name that matched. Would your followers be called "shells" perhaps? So, thanks for clearing this up.

"so orderly and calm in there! Very beige and neutral." Like your description, very calming. Finally a way to get blogrolls under control!

I have been thinking about doing the same thing. I am going to look into it more now.

That's a neat feature, I'll have to investigate it a bit further. But there's so much else to do!! Life is full of things to look into, right???

aHA! Thus the mysterious message on my blog. I will now go cancel my plans for a mega church, house in the carribean, and world domination.

Dennis has followers too. Dennis fondly recalls the days before he started his own blog, when he had oodles of time to read other bogs and discover new ones.

It's always sad when a blog Dennis likes goes away though.

just when I got used to bloggers relatively new feature of having updates on one's blogroll and now they start up this follower thing!

ah what to do.... then at absolute vanilla's blog she was discussing this other new thing a widget called a blackbox... I'm paralyzed with all these choices so I think I'll just stay with what I have for now - the mouse's blogroll keeps me up to date with most of the blogs I regularly read in terms of if anything is new...
